Quiet time is a must!!

Rhiannon Rees is a mother, friend, humanitarian, healer, homeopath, pschic, teacher and writer who enjoys all of life's gifts. Please connect with her at her local Whistler Spa, Nibbana Healing Spa. (604) 935-5772.

I truly relish time to myself - even if it just means 5 minutes in the bath to gather my thoughts and feel some sort of solace from the warm water that caresses my body. Even if it just means a break in my crazy routine.

I crave it - the quiet time!! It's so surprising to me that our biggest relationship is with ourselves and people fear being alone. I mean what is going to happen? Are you going to go crazy and start mixing tangerine socks with a silver striped shirt and a black and white polka-dot umbrella? It almost seems as ludicrous as being afraid of your own shadow.

There it is! I've said it. What is the point of being afraid of your shadow. It's always with you. I feel calm in myself when I can have those precious moments alone. I can feel myself breathe and just "be" I can stretch and observe the wanderings in my own mind. I can watch the landscape and feel any ripples from the stones that I may throw into my ever-chattering
subconscious pond. I feel peace and harmony. I feel love and nourishment. But most of all, I feel quiet. It's nice, because quiet is always there, we just choose to fill it up. We don't have to fill everything up. Some things are meant to be empty - they are beautiful that way. Adyashanti Has a powerful book that everyone should read on "emptiness" - It's called "Emptiness Dancing".

I am sure for most people it's hard to imagine emptiness dancing when there is literally "nothing" there. But, I guess that's the whole point. When we find that silence we are able to hear ourselves, our true inner nature for the first time. We are able to hear that age old wisdom. That "spiritual" me. I think when you love yourself then you can truly be "with" yourself and don't have a nagging need to "fill" that space with addictions, tea, coffee, coke or other addictive substances.

When we "own" who we are and are able to "flow" then we too flow in the river of life, we no longer think we are going to drown or get washed up ashore, but we are more able to feel that current that draws us along and also we can truly see the blue of the sky and the white clouds that form different shapes every second. We get so lost in ourselves that our compass actually starts to lead us into a life that we "think" is good for us. We no longer know how we "feel". Get to know yourself and become your "best friend" and you too will experience joy and harmony in a way that you could not see was possible before. Cherish each and every "quiet" moment that you have, for it is in the quiet that wisdom will appear.

SSSSHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
