Have you ever had a day like this???

by Rhiannon Ress - Nibbana Healing Spa - copyright Whistler Question.

So, I’m sitting here in the shagpile carpet van – no, they did not go out in the sixties….and I am wondering… “How does a college educated, previously successful girl become almost homeless , with a 2 year old in tow?”. I mean, how did this happen? Well, firstly, because I am living the residual life of what I used to think about myself. I didn’t deserve it. All of this has changed in the last 6 months and now, my life is beginning to change too.

The changes happened firstly with Adlerian therapy and then with “The Secret.” So, like I have said in a previous article I have been watching the secret religiously for about 6 weeks and you won’t believe what is going on…. Now I need to make the outside “life” match the inside “spice”… ooooooohhhhhhhhhhh I just love it!!!

So , here is my day!!! I was going to the city to organize my separation agreement but I was thinking “How can I come up with the money??” I have briefly met this lawyer for five minutes about 2 months ago – so, I don’t really know what he looks like. Anyway, as I was parking my vehicle I had this “feeling” which I get fairly often because I am psycho!! , I mean psychic!! And it tells me that I have to walk down the street and then turn right and then go left and cross the road and head down a few more blocks before heading into this enclosed mall and into a coffee shop. No big deal??

Well, not only did I walk into this coffee shop but I walked right up to this table and said “Hi! How are you?” to my lawyer. He literally reeled in his chair. Not only was I meant to meet him in 45 minutes, but I was meant to meet him at his law offices. Strange??? Not in my world. Then I got the psychobabble going and proceeded to tell him all about his life etc. His wife, and the things he needs to think about. Now, he had that ‘deer in the headlights look” He said to me that he had an idea. That, if I helped him work on a case, he would waive his fee on my separation papers.. WOW!!!! my separation which was going to cost me $2 000 was now going to be FREE!!!

I tell you what, the secret is working!!!Then, he pulled out a few business cards and I psychometrized those (read them intuitively). He could not believe it. Then, to make my day even better I went to the grocery store and not only did I get my cart for free!! but I also got a $150 shop for $80 because the computer system crashed and the cashier had to process my whole order through the till. SO, all in all, I made $2070.25 and I didn’t even lift a finger!! Ever had a day like that??? Anyone can create abundance, we just have to believe that we can and then feel it!!!!

A love affair with olive oil (part 2)

by Rhiannon Rees - Nibbana Healing Spa Whistler, copyright Whistler Question

I took a bottle of the olive oil home with me to Australia. The heat was heavy and moist; the sun too bright at noon and there was no breeze across the dry bushes along the path. My partner did not like olive oil on bread, “Never heard of it before, and all that salt isn’t good for you. No I prefer butter.” His eyes were half closed indeed , but against the rising cigarette smoke and no hint of lust moved in their depths. His words did not stroke me, nor did I want his negligent hand on my knee. With a sigh I turned to the olive oil bottle and dribbled a few drops on my bread. No greenish colour, no nutty taste, just plain olive oil, slightly aged. I still love it though, I think.

I will try every new brand which comes on the market. Extra virgin olive oil, plain virgin olive oil, second pressing, third pressing, filtered, unfiltered, early picking, late picking, the sellers think of a description, I will buy it. Oil from Spain and Greece, Turkey and Tunisia and Italy, always Italy.

Once in the Adelaide hills I actually recovered the greenish tint, that distinct nutty flavour, that smell. A local produce. Yet the day was too bright once again, the red wine too smooth, not that rough taste which makes you cough with the first sip. The bread was obviously from a store down the road, the machined slices so dull and regular and thin, reminding me of a grey spinster with a flat chest and twittering, nervous voice. I could almost taste the plastic wrapping. My girlfriend was sitting opposite me under a too bright umbrella. Much too new. Yet, I still love olive oil. Indeed I do.

One day, I will go back to the source. One day. Sitting in a small restaurant nestled amongst those mellow Italian hills, the afternoon sun painting with warm ochre colours, a faint breeze carrying earthy odours, wooden tables bare and familiar and opposite me a man (he has to be swarthy.) and that oh so special look in his eyes – “I really want you”. Greenish olive oil on warm, crusty, freshly baked bread, a proprietor with a smudged apron, a wide smile and those knowing eyes: that special red wine which makes you gasp with the first taste and garlic, lots of garlic.

Then I will be in love again. Oh yes, once more so in love.

Love Affair with Olive Oil

by Rhiannon Rees - Nibbana Healing Spa Whistler - copyright Whistler Question

Now, Olive oil, how could you have a love affair with Olive oil?? (it is healthy right??? isn't it??)……Let me take you on a journey of the soul, a journey of passion and desire….all in 400 words. Quite the feat right. Let’s see how we go.

Some 6000 years ago the first olive trees were grown in the Mediterranean, the eastern part. It took only a few more years (a couple of thousand or so) to reach Italy. During that period, olive trees grew in Crete, Greeks and Phoenicians traded the oil across the seas to Spain and what is Morocco today. Spain, Southern France, Italy and Sicily planted olive trees.

Olive oil is low in oleic fatty acid, high in anti-oxidants, high in monosaturated fats and is simply good for you.

The Romans used warm, perfumed oil to massage weary centurions, anoint alert virgins before the wedding, dribble it on a baby’s head to appease the various gods and burn it in lamps to brighten rooms. It was used as a cleaner, to soften leather, to season wooden barrels and to flavour food.

A few years ago I went on a cruise to Italy where an Italian engineer took a real interest in me. A little compact powerhouse of a man with dark brooding good looks, smooth thick hair, black eyes half closed and gleaming with anticipation. When he spoke to me in Italian, I felt stroked all over, as if he was making love to me. Every word in that deep slow voice was a caress, almost. The afternoon was warm, the countryside mellow and the air soft and brushing my face as gently as his words.

He took me to a small restaurant amongst the hills outside Rome. Scattered bare wooden tables, bleached umbrellas leaning into the faint breeze. Old trees with gnarled branches against the faint pink evening sky.

The padrone came over, a bottle of red wine in one hand and a jar of locally produced olive oil in the other. More Italian was spoken with rapid hand movements and quick glances cast at me. A proprietary arm around my shoulder and understanding smiles between the two men. I was so enjoying myself.

We dribbled this slightly greenish oil with it’s strong nutty flavour onto chunks of fresh bread, some coarse salt sprinkled over, a slice or two of ripe red tomatoes , and I was in love. Truly I was.

He stroked my hair as a little olive oil escaped down my chin. With his finger, he brushed it away, a quick touch of soft lips and then he nonchalantly rested his hand on my knee. Olive oil on fresh salad slightly bitter, tomatoes which tasted red and ripe, salami made from donkey’s meat, soft goat’s cheese ladled from a small wooden barrel and the heavy perfume of garlic in the air. I was in love.

What's Important

by Rhiannon Rees - Nibbana Healing Spa Whistler, copyright Whistler Question

If you had a car given to you and were told that this would be your one and only car for the rest of your life. What would you do??? If you were told that it didn’t matter how much you drove it or how many accidents that you had in it – it would never be replaced. It would be your one and only ride for ever….… What would you do???

You would make sure that your car was so well looked after, so well cared for that the wax polish that you applied so regularly would result in such a shimmery, shiny, sparkly reflection that anyone looking at your car would need to wear sunglasses just to look!!!!!. You would wash it and clean it. Keep it fueled on only the best gas. Check the oil and water and ensure the tyres had the right pressure. (I only recently found out that tyres no longer have inner tubes – I’m thinking I need to watch more t.v – just for general knowledge!) Every time that car had just a scratch you would take care of it and buff and polish it.

So what about your only REAL vehicle for life???? Your body!!! Why do some people put so much time and energy into their life and their health and yet others do nothing or just the bare minimum. There is a plethora of reasons for this. But it doesn’t matter what the reason, we should really love ourselves, body, mind and spirit. (Warts and all is what I am saying!!!). I am challenging you to be your own best friend to take care of yourself the way you would for a dear friend. Dare I say it, the way that you would look after your favourite wheels!!!

Why not set up a new health schedule where you can exercise regularly and eat or learn how to eat healthy food. If you are not eating well, how can you function well. You could never put sand in your gas tank and expect your car to go. My challenge to you is to set up a schedule where you have some “me” time and that time may include anything from yoga, meditation, massage , manicures to pedicures to self help learning seminars and long , beautiful walks in nature.

Go on do it!! You deserve it you know. Just write it right in your diary. Don’t change it. Keep it there as an appointment with yourself as you would a doctor’s appointment. Go on…… I dare you . Let’s see how you feel in a week, two weeks. I am sure that you will look like you are a new vehicle and remember…… a new car is a very nice ride!!!!!
