It’s not easy to be creative every week. Sometimes, no matter how hard I try I just can’t find something juicy. Something to really sink your teeth into. And, as we already know. I like to talk about the “real” stuff. The stuff that lives are carved from.
I have such a deep commitment to unite and connect everyone. After all, we are all made of the same sweet stuff…you know, sugar and spice (maybe a good drop of red.) and all things nice! So, as I was trying to decide what to write about, life just opened her beautiful arms and guided me to the topic.
If you listen closely you can just hear things. You can hear your soul. You can hear other people. It’s amazing. I had found some time to be still. In the stillness we can truly see and hear ourselves. When you have feelings that you have shoved aside or not dealt with, they will surface in moments of stillness. Perhaps that is why we all run around like chickens with our heads cut off?? Although it is not always comfortable to deal with these feelings as they arise, it is a great way to purge. Kind of like how one would feel after a really good cry.
Feelings have a natural flow. They flow like the seasons. We are either moving towards pleasure or moving away from pain, in every decision that we make. Every decision is emotional. We do something to feel good or avoid something so that we don’t feel bad. So, while I was trying to decide what to write, I came across a beautiful quote. (Anonymous), the quote said, “When I asked for all things so that I might enjoy life, I was given life so that I might enjoy all things.” This is truly beautiful. Simplistic, stunning and very clever.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, I was unpacking boxes and put on one of my favourite cd’s so that I could groove to the toons (village people of course!!). I am kidding! I got so swept away with the music that I forgot what I was doing. All of a sudden I am jiving right across my lounge room floor. I was feeling hotter than what’s her name out of dirty dancing!! All of a sudden I am in a mood of energy and ecstasy.
Then, the phone rings. ( I can just hear it!!). It was very auspicious. A girl I had recently met invited me to a healing sound circle. Cool! I was completely naïve about such things and thought it would be a great idea for my 2 year old. (Silly me). When I arrived I realized it was really for the adults and it was a way to use music and sound as an instrument (pardon the pun!) of healing. I became curious. I thought this was delightful. Once we started and everyone got over their insecurities, the gathering became one of beautiful melodies and harmonies interspersed with tribal drumming and soprano soliloquys. There was a veritable plethora of instruments that people could play as they felt drawn to different things. This made the music variable and interesting.
It was inspiring and brought about feelings of connection and oneness. I felt happy and alive. It’s nice to try things you know nothing about. You might be surprised how much you enjoy a new venture or gathering . Go outside your circle of comfort and enrich your life in ways you didn’t even know were possible. By the way, I sound amazing in the shower!! Blessings to all.
