Are you running for fitness or to tackle a race or two? Does your visit to the gym go beyond the treadmills in the cardio room?
“Whenever the topic of strength training and running comes up, most runners tend to respond with, “Wait, I’m supposed to do something other than running?” Supplementing running with strengthening exercises will not only aid in injury prevention but will make you a stronger, faster, and more efficient runner.” From Runner’s World, 10 Essential Strength Training Exercises for Runners
Runner’s Bootcamp is the class to get you on your way to being the best runner possible! Great for all level of runners – new runners will get the strength they need to tackle races like the Sun Run and experienced runners will develop the foundation for faster paces.
Runners joining Coach Diana Rochon will get a take-home workout to keep you on a roll until the next class.
As a small taster, Diana is sharing this “Runner’s Bootcamp Arch Exercise” with you. Coach Diana comments, “As runners we tend to think about our legs and cardio as key pieces to our running ease…but we have to think about our feet that drive us forward. To train our feet to handle the impact at footstrike and minimize the risk of shin splints and possible plantar fasciitis, this simple arch exercise provides a great base of strength to help us keep our feet happy and us moving forward to our running goals.
